Jailed Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov has won the Sakharov prize. Awarded by the European Parliament, the prize is considered to be one of the most prestigious human rights awards. As a vocal critic of the Kremlin and fierce opponent of Moscow’s annexation of his native Crimea, Sentsov, who is serving a 20-year jail term, is Russia’s most famous prisoner.
