Transformers: Age of Extinction arrives in just four days and here is my next Old Movie Review for one of the most hated films ever made, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Release in 2009 and yet again directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the sequel to the 2007 Transformers live action movie. A product of the 2007-2008 Writers Strike, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is not a great movie, but it is still a mildly entertaining one. After having watched it again, I have realized that the movie is more flawed than I originally remember it to be. In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, an ancient Decepticon known as the Fallen returns to Earth to unleash his plan of revenge. Sam Witwicky is once again involved in all of the action, as he is hunted by the Decepticons due to important information stored in his head. The Autobots must fight to protect him from the Decepticons before there plan destroys the Earth. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a movie that had potential as a sequel, but it ultimately ended up failing due to the writing. While I do still enjoy the movie, I do realize that is flawed and just a slight let down. What are your thoughts on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Do you hate it as much as everyone else?
OVERALL RATING: 7.75/10. The one word to describe Transformers: ROTF is disappointing. I was ultimately disappointed that the movie wasn’t as good as it should have been. As for its pros, ROTF still flourishes from a great direction by Michael Bay, a great score from Steve Jabolonsky, a great soundtrack including Linkin Park, incredible action scenes, mindblowing visual effects, and excellent sound editing. The forest fight/foundry scene is one of the best, if not the best, scenes in the entire trilogy. As for the flaws I found, they mainly involved the writing. The movie was, overall, rushed, especially in the first and third halves. There were a few plot holes present and not enough of the Autobots were shown in the final battle. I also feel that some of the humor just wasn;t that great and slightly unnecessary, especially in the beginning. While I recognize the film has these flaws, I still find it to be mildly enjoyable because I am a fan of the series.
